Finally a New Roof on the Breeding Pens
For this article I have decided to write about what I did with some of the money I received from Barastoc as part of this scholarship. It really did come at a good time as I was saving to buy the materials needed to put a new roof on the breeding pens.
When I bought the pens they were disassembled and when my Dad and Uncle Mark put the roof on things didn’t line up like they obviously did when they were originally built. The roof was made from colour bond fencing panels and because it didn’t line up and also due to the amount of holes in it, the breeding pens would get soaking wet when it rained. This was not good for the pekins.
With the money from Barastoc I was able to order a new roof and my Dad and I put it on. Now when it rains I don’t have to worry about the inside or the pekins getting wet. It is a huge relief and I know the pekins are happier for it too. I did have a little bit left over so I was also able to put some fresh sand to put in the pens. I would really like to thank Barastoc for helping me out.
